IV.

Hello.

I’m Imo, a front-end developer and artist based in glorious East London, in a little top-floor flat filled with plants, children, and cats. By day (and, lets be honest, often by night) I make clean, responsive, and modern websites for good folks.

I love to work with small businesses, entrepreneurs, charities, creatives of all flavours, and people who are doing good things in the world. We need more of you.

I work closely with my clients, allowing me to put my heart and soul into the project - and ensuring the finished product is something you're proud to call your own. I only work with 1 or 2 clients at a time, so I can bring as much energy and enthusiasm to your project as you do!

A little further down the page, you'll find some recent examples of my work - with more projects to come soon! As I am currently working on building my freelance portfolio, I can offer discounted rates for a limited time. You can also pop over to my personal site to see my non-web design work.

Further down still, you can find some handy FAQs to help you decide whether we will be a good fit.

More.

I'm into social architecture, transit/ transport, community, digital spaces, and tiny poems about tiny things. I'm hot for Trellick Tower, Class 317 trains, beautiful old launderettes, and cameras with film inside. When I'm not making/breaking things in VSCode you'll most often find me playing videogames, watching planes at night from my balcony, or trundling along a canal somewhere, hoping to get the chance to pet someone's dog. I have a blog, and you can also keep up with me over on Twitter and Instagram. If you like pictures of London and the occasional cat, it might be right up your street.

What I offer.

I love to hand-code in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and if you're looking for a static site, this might be perfect for you! However if you need a dynamic site, with a blog and/or the ability to make regular updates yourself, a better option might be working with self-hosted WordPress. We will decide together what works best for you and your project.

In terms of packages, here's a short and non-exhaustive list of what I can do for you:

  • Landing pages with your links and contact details (often seen on Instagram and Twitter)
  • Websites of all flavours
  • Ongoing support and updates in the form of retainer packages
  • One-off support and updates, chargeable based on my hourly rate
  • WordPress edits/redesigns
  • WordPress site migration, with or without availing yourself of my other services
  • Setup of domain, hosting, and WordPress - ready for you to build it yourself, if you’re a DIY kinda person

Hosting.

If you’d like me to provide hosting for you, I can do this through my preferred hosting provider, Dreamhost. They are extremely reliable, with a 99.9% uptime guarantee, and fantastic customer support. If you want to take care of your own hosting, that's fine too - Dreamhost is, as always, very much recommended by me! (ps I do not work for Dreamhost.)

Experience.

Like many of us web dev types, I’m (mostly) self-taught. I’ve been tinkering away on WordPress for a decade, since the dark ages of keyword-stuffed, monetized blogs, building many sites for myself and friends along the way. More recently, I studied front end web development with General Assembly to get my skills up to modern best practice standards. I’m currently learning PHP, so it won’t be long until I can build you your very own custom WordPress theme! Watch this space.

Fees.

My fees are bespoke and depend very much on your project – the size, the complexity, the functionality, how long it will take to build it, whether we’ll wave goodbye after launch or you keep me on indefinitely as your developer, etc. When you contact me you should let me know as much as you can about your goals - as well as your budget for the project - so that I can give you an accurate quote and timeline. I can cater for rush jobs too, at a higher rate.

SEO.

I don’t offer ongoing in-depth SEO anymore – I did this professionally for many years and quite frankly it is not something I love. Having said that, all of my sites are designed with exceptional SEO practice in mind (you can take the girl out of digital marketing, etc…), and are therefore very google-friendly. If you go for a WordPress site, I can teach you a few easy tricks and best practices to boost your SEO on an ongoing basis. I can also set up Google Analytics for you so you can keep an eye on how well your shiny new website is doing!

Copywriting and content creation.

I don’t offer copywriting as standard. However, I can offer proofreading and copyediting as an extra to make sure your content reads beautifully, makes sense and is typo-free. Content creation and assets such as logos are outside of my remit and I advise you to hire a graphic designer/relevant professional, however I can provide simple icons such as arrow buttons/etc.

And that's it! Thanks for visiting.
